Sokka: ( giving Aang a noogie) Alriiight! Who's ready for a men-only man trip! I've been wanting to say it for a long time.
He makes use of it during the man's arrest.Īang: Katara, I need to tell you something. Just for Pun: Sokka has been admittedly saving this for the day Long Feng finally gets his comeuppance. It Was Here, I Swear!: The Gaang takes the Earth King to Lake Laogai to the Dai Li base, but find it has been destroyed since they last left.Internal Reveal: The Earth King finally learns about the war against the Fire Nation, and the upcoming solar eclipse.Impairment Shot: Before Zuko collapses and falls into his Angst Coma, we see the room shaking from his POV.The Fire Nation insignia puts a spanner in his story though. I Can Explain: Long Feng wants the Earth King to believe that the drill is merely a construction project. What could possibly go wrong? (See Cliffhanger). Hope Spot: Toph's gotten a letter that her mother wants to mend their relationship, the Earth King is on Team Avatar's side, Ba Sing Se's forces will now join the war, Aang will meet Guru Pathik, Sokka will see his father again, and according to a messenger, the Kyoshi warriors have arrived at the city.Group Hug: At the end before the Gaang splits up.Ground-Shattering Landing: A group of earthbender soldiers are tossed in the air when Aang lands this way.Good Angel, Bad Angel: In Zuko's fever dreams, a pair of dragons ( one red, one blue, and voiced by Iroh and Azula, respectively) act out his inner conflict.Funny Background Event: When King Kuei is handing the Gaang letters the Dai Li confiscated, he gives one to Toph.who immediately hands it to Katara, since, being blind, she can't read it.Long Feng describes Team Avatar as an "anarchist cell" and claims "If you listen to them, you're playing right into your own destruction." In The Legend of Korra, we see exactly that a diverse group of benders making up part of an anarchist cell manipulate the Earth Queen into listening to them, which directly leads to her demise at their hands. Katara immediately says Sokka should be the one to go see their father, hinting at her hurt at him which will come to the forefront later. This is a hint that they have not changed their ways and are still feigning loyalty to the Earth King, and it's born out near the end when one of them tells the imprisoned Long Feng that they're still loyal to him over the king. The two Dai Li agents briefly hesitate and give each other a knowing look before arresting Long Feng.Five-Second Foreshadowing: A clever-eyed viewer can see that the Kyoshi Warriors are actually Azula, Mai, and Ty Lee in disguise from their unchanged haircuts just before the big reveal.Fever Dream Episode: Zuko's side of the story.Evil Chancellor: This episode shows Long Feng trying to manipulate the king into ignoring the warnings about a war.Dumbass Has a Point: The Earth King may be naive and sheltered, but (as even Toph acknowledges) he's understandably angry about a bunch of strange children attacking his palace, bursting into his throne room after flattening his guards, and then saying that he needs to trust that they have a good reason for doing it.Dressing as the Enemy: Azula, Mai, and Ty Lee infiltrate Ba Sing Se dressed as Kyoshi Warriors.Curb-Stomp Battle: Team Avatar completely destroys the Earth King's entire royal guard.Toph's letter from her mother was a trap set by Xin Fu and Master Yu, the Dai Li are still loyal to Long Feng, and the three Kyoshi Warriors who've arrived are actually Azula, Mai, and Ty Lee in disguise. Cliffhanger: So things are looking good for Team Avatar! Everything seems to be going their way for once.Catapult Nightmare: Zuko has one of these, due to his fever dreams. But he's not too hard-headed to give them a chance. On one hand, the Earth King isn't so easily swayed into believing Team Avatar's story about a war going on outside of the city's walls, between the kids' recent shenanigans and Long Feng's influence.
